The Head of Engineering at Ozmo is responsible for leading the engineering and IT teams, driving technological innovation and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality products that align with the company’s strategic vision. This role will work cross-functionally to shape product strategy and execution, balance innovation with technical sustainability, and foster a culture of growth, inclusivity, and high performance.

What you will do:

  • Lead the engineering and IT organizations, driving innovation and executing Ozmo’s technical vision while shaping the future of the company’s technology strategy.
  • Collaborate at the executive level on strategic planning, ensuring alignment between technical capabilities and business objectives.
  • Advocate for high-value product features on the roadmap, striking a balance between technical feasibility and business priorities to deliver solutions that meet both customer and business needs.
  • Partner closely with product teams to prioritize features and innovations that drive impact, without sacrificing long-term technical sustainability.
  • Oversee the architecture, deployment, and monitoring of cloud infrastructure and software products, ensuring operational excellence and scalability.
  • Champion an agile development approach, fostering iterative processes that enhance team responsiveness and product adaptability to changing market demands.
  • Manage engineering and IT projects, KPIs, budgets, and strategic initiatives, aligning technical and financial objectives to support company growth.
  • Champion continuous improvement in processes, security, and compliance, leading efforts on SOC2 oversight, incident response, postmortem analysis, and risk management.
  • Provide leadership in data privacy, security reviews, contract oversight, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, and high performance across engineering and IT teams, developing talent and driving team success.
  • Represent Ozmo externally with professionalism, embodying the company’s values and reinforcing its reputation as a trusted technology leader.

What you will bring to the role:

  • 15+ years of distinguished experience in software engineering, including more than five years in a leadership capacity within a dynamic SaaS environment.
  • Extensive expertise in the software development lifecycle (SDLC), cloud technologies, DevOps practices, and IT infrastructure, driving innovation and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and mentoring large teams across engineering, DevOps, and IT functions, nurturing their professional growth and development.
  • Exceptional leadership skills focused on motivating and empowering high-performing teams to achieve ambitious goals.
  • A proven track record of leveraging technology effectively to drive transformative business outcomes.
  • Deep commitment to fostering cross-functional collaboration with Product, Growth, and executive teams to align on strategic initiatives.
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, skillfully balancing innovation with operational stability to meet evolving business demands.
  • A metrics-driven approach, ensuring teams consistently achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to uptime, transaction performance and delivery velocity.
  • Advocacy for continuous improvement and innovation, dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive team culture that empowers individuals.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, facilitating effective interactions with executive-level stakeholders and fostering robust C-suite relationships.

Pay Range: 220K - 280K base + bonus & equity 

This position is based in the United States and offers the opportunity to work from home or in the Blacksburg, VA office.
